No signal bars or a "no service" error means no connection. The dreaded “no service” can seem like a bit of nightmare to fix.

Here are a few things you can try to get your phone back up and running in the below scenarios:

RECENT LOSS OF SIGNAL:

  • Check if you’re in an area of coverage through our coverage map 👉 here.
  • Test your phone by trying one or more of these simple hacks to see if they make any difference.
    1. Turn airplane mode on and then off.
    2. Restart your device and check for signal bars.
    3. Ensure mobile data is on and Wi-Fi is off to make sure you’re using 48 network.
    4. Remove any cases or covers from the device.
    5. Reset your network settings [This might remove your Wi-Fi passwords].
    6. Update the device software to the latest version, using Wi-Fi, if possible.
    7. Perform a manual network selection. If you see:
      • Registered to 48 network, but no signal: If the coverage map showed good coverage, try switching to 2G or turning off LTE.
      • 48 network is not available: If the coverage map showed good coverage, perform a master reset.
      • 48 network is available but cannot connect: Ensure that the copper plating on your SIM is intact.
        • If it isn't, you can get a new SIM here.
        • If it is, check if there an issue with your account.
      • Network selection gets stuck or gives error: Perform a master reset. If that doesn't help, check if there an issue with your account.
  • It’s highly unlikely, but sometimes a plan or top-up issue can stop you from accessing the 48 network.
    1. Ensure that you have an active plan or add-on with enough minutes and texts. You can check that out, here.
    2. Finally, check if account been suspended due to 48’s fair usage policy breach. If you are in breach of this policy, your plan might be suspended. Check here for any messages from 48 Customer Care.
      • Suspended: Ouch! It can't be lifted until your current plan is up.
      • Not suspended: Time to give 48 Customer Care a shout so they can troubleshoot this further. You can do it yourself, here. In the meantime, you can call and text over Wi-Fi

NO OR POOR SIGNAL:

  • If you’re always facing the problem in the same place; then kindly know that some locations have a weaker signal, and unfortunately no network can tell you how strong your signal will be indoors. Check if you’re in a covered area.
  • If you’re always facing the problem in all areas, then kindly check if there is an issue with your phone or account.
