I switched to 48 today my phone is making and receiving calls and texts but my internet is not working as a new customer do i need to do anything to activate my intetnet

Yes - you need to configure your internet/APN settings:

Be aware that some Samsung Galaxy phones have an annoying habit of spontaneously losing their APN settings and needing reconfiguration.

Hopefully you won't be affected by this but many Samsung Galaxy users have been and I am not aware of any fix.
