I received an e-mail saying that my membership has run out and I'm not getting my data allowance anymore.  Is this correct?

Could be a mistake.

Many people received such messages in error recently.

For example:

Your My48 account Dashboard will clarify your current memberships status:

Your Payment Details page will clarify if membership auto-renewal is enabled and your payment card registered:

Your Buy Plan page will clarify if any memberships are pending:
