My phone doesn't work abroad

I have updated my membership and paid €7.50 for add ons for EU ROAMING. But I am here in Amsterdam and my phone says there is no service or "searching". Also in the settings on My phone the 'carrier' option disappears every time I go into it.
I was wondering if you could fix this asap please

The usual iPhone problem while abroad.

Try this but (a) you may have to try several times in order to "catch" the relevant menu option and (b) the specific menu options may vary from one version of iOS to another:
