Are you using an iPhone?

If so then this is a common problem when roaming.

Hope this helps.

Did that help at all?

No when I follow that link it just takes me to another thread and doesn't tell me what to do. I put €1 in my account and turned it on and off. I have no laptop to sync. I'm currently in Slovenia and yes it's an iPhone. I got reception in Prague by doing some sim applications thing but having no luck in Slovenia.

When roaming with an iPhone you need to do this (or something like this):

And it can take several attempts to get this option and use it just as the phone manages to get a brief connection to a local network.

Hi Niamh

Go to the Settings/Phone/SIM Applications and select When Abroad/Network Selection/Manual/International - Roaming profile. Then search manually for a network and try to connect.

If this does not work then try again.  If you keep persevering it will work.
