Spotify problem on Windows phone

Anon

Switched over to 48 during the week and although my internet is working fine, Spotify won't let me play anything because of a network error when I'm using my mobile data. If I switch to WiFi it works fine. Any ideas guys?

Did Spotify work OK on the same phone over a mobile data link with your previous carrier?

Anything useful here?

Edit: sorry - I assumed Android but you are on Windows. If you Google you will find other Spotify community threads about Windows phone issues - maybe there's something useful there...?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. It appears the source of the problem is that my phone requires roaming to be on to get any data. Why is this the case that roaming needs to be on anybody know? Spotify app wont allow this roaming...

48 is a virtual operator (MVNO - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_virtual_network_operator) operating on the O2 network.

Because of this you need data roaming enabled for things to work properly.

All of the guides here for configuring the internet settings state that roaming needs to be enabled.

You may see the roaming 'R' on the signal bars but it's OK - there is no additional cost involved or anything like that.

I am surprised if general internet access was working with roaming disabled but Spotify was not.

Hope this helps.
