Texting non Irish number

Tried texting a non-irish number with credit on my phone and still won't send. Why is this happening?
(I have put in prefix aswell)

I presume it's a South African number so (country code 27)?

 

If so then this guide explains the mobile number format to use:

 

http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/mobile/mobile-codes.php?callfrom=Ireland&callto=South%20Africa

 

Note that within SA the mobile code will be, say, 0710, but when calling/texting from abroad you drop the leading 0.

 

E.g. to text somebody with the SA mobile number 0710 1234567 you use:

 

+27 710 1234567

 

or

 

00 27 710 1234567

Are you absolutely sure that you are using the correct number format?

What are you using (just the prefixes and just use 1234567 or whatever for the actual number).
