No luck, still have no service but luckily enough hubbys phone is working which is good, last year I had service n he didn't! This year we even topped up n got extra roaming credits even before we left! We're in Austria till wed, maybe tis a good thing nobody can contact me!

You seem to have an iPhone and are roaming abroad?

If that's the case then the problem is most likely this:

You may need to try this many times before it works.

Sometimes toggling airplane mode on and then off and trying to "catch" a local network quickly may help.

 

This problem is due to the stupid way that Apple restrict iPhone usage on certain networks and in certain circumstances even when the handset is unlocked.

It's not specific to 48.
