My sim card is not working. It says that it is not registered to the natwork. What does that mean? And how can I solve this issue ?

Phone sees the network, but no bars

Suddenly texts to an UK number won't go or arrive after a week or two. Have credit on my account. Can receive ok from same UK number, what's it all about? Never had a problem before.
