I can't use iMessage as my phone hasn't updated and is still saying my old message is connected to iMessage how do I fix this

What do you mean "my phone hasn't updated"?

If you mean that you need to deregister from iMessage so that messages don't get routed to it then see here:

Or do you mean that you want to continue using iMessage but you can't for some reason?

Where is it saying that your "old message is still connected to iMessage"?
What is the exact message here?

As ever the stupid way that Apple do things with iPhones causes problems that don't happen with normal phones...
