48 and the PMV Trust (www.pmvtrust.ie)

On Thursday 19th December we experienced a network outage affecting calls, texts and internet.

As soon as we were alerted, teams of engineers were on site working to fix the problem and resolved it later on in the evening.  Please click here for more details and information on the outage.

But the 48 team know how frustrated and annoyed you are about this incident because we are too.

We’ve thought about how we can try and go some way towards making up for this issue over and above fixing the technical stuff, so on this occasion we’ve decided to donate money to the PMV Trust.

We know that there will be a lot of young people homeless this Christmas across Ireland, so believe this is a worthy cause to support.

Thanks for your communication on this matter. It was annoying but at least money is being donated to the very worthy charity PMV Trust,

merry christmas.

A Very Worthy Cause... and thank you for the in-depth explanation regarding the Network outage.

How much money are you donating to the PMV trust and how does that amount of money compare to the cost of compensating your customers for loss of service ?

Its a good cause but I would like more information than just saying we are " donating money to PMV trust" I want to be assured that 48 are not trying to get off the hook cgeaply .

Hi cdebru,

We can reassure you that the money donated was the same amount that we’ve compensated customers in the past with.

We’ve never disclosed how much this has equated to, based on confidential revenue figures that we aren’t willing to share with competitors.

It’s never been our style to get off the hook cheaply or easily, and we thought that this was an appropriate form of compensation over Christmas.
