Changing phones

I'm a customer nearly 2 years and want to change my phone ! Do I need to buy a phone from o2 so it is unlocked for 48 ??

No. O2 phones are likely to be locked to O2.

You need to buy an unlocked phone or buy a locked one and then get it unlocked for use on any network.

And O2 locked phone will not work on 48.
